Favorite coffee shops in the LA area

There is nothing like a good cup of coffee! I am such a coffee lover, even though I have such a high caffeine tolerance and it does NOTHING to me! I love supporting small coffee shops who aren’t corporate. Of course, there is nothing wrong with corporations, but I feel like when I go to local coffee shops, I get treated a lot better & they have a lot tastier items on their menu. Plus, supporting a small business feels good. Whether you live in LA or traveling to LA, I thought it would be fun to share some of my favorite spots! Of course, there are a lot more coffee shops I enjoy going to, but if I were to list all of them it would be such a loooooonnng post & no one wants that. So let’s get started!

1. Alfred Coffee (In the Alley)

This place is seriously sooooo adorable! I love everything about it. I know they have more than one location, but the one I go to is on Melrose. I love that there are a bunch of places to go shopping in the area and how it is just a cool place to go hang out with friends! Also, it’s a great place for photos. I usually get this yummy chia pudding and an oat milk latte. This is the only place I’ve tried and heard of oat milk, and let me tell you, if you stop by at Alfred’s you MUST try it! The oat milk is seriously so creamy and overall delicious. Plus everyone who works there is just oh so lovely. Very limited seating, like maybe five seats indoors, but plenty of seating outdoors.

2. Cafecito Organico

Oh my gossssh, this place is so adorable! This coffee shop is in Silverlake. They don’t have any seating inside, but a ton outside, so it’s perfect for this time of the year. I usually get their Chia Latte when I go. It’s such a great place to connect with friends or work on stuff. It is also so peaceful because it’s in a neighborhood and not really on a busy street like most places. I feel like it’s also very “low key” compared to other places. The area I like to sit at is the “Hoover Wilderness,” it’s just so aesthetically pleasing! Also, there’s a bunch of different cookie flavors they have for sale and it’s just oh so good. Definitely, a place to go check out!

3. Intelligentsia

This place has a few locations in LA; Silverlake, Pasadena & Venice beach. I live closer to the one in Venice, so I tend to go there a lot more than the other locations. If I feel like going on a drive or if I happen to be on the east side, I go to the Silverlake location. I usually get the regular brewed coffee. Occasionally I will have a latte. I don’t always get a treat here, but on this day I did, and I have no idea the name of it lol. This place is generally busy with people working on their laptops, but sometimes it’s helpful to go to a place where others are working so I don’t distract myself with other people’s conversations. I usually come in the evening and pop in my earphones and work.

4. Blue Bottle Coffee Co.

This place has several locations, which is lovely. This particular one is in Culver City. I don’t think I’ve ever purchased any handcrafted beverage other than brewed coffee which they serve as a pour over. The brew I have been getting is the “Burundi Kayanza.” I don’t think they have seating in all locations, but it’s the perfect spot to get a cup of coffee to go. I am sure their latte’s and other drinks are just as yummy as the good old regular guy I always get!

5. Bourgeois Pig

Lastly, I, of course, had to end this with a cute, adorable place! This little gem is in Hollywood. I guess I would say this place is “hipster.” A lot of coffee shops close surprisingly early which is pretty annoying if you ask me. This place is open v late which is just lovely. I have only been here at night, and it can get pretty dark in there. Kind of dim lighting just like a bar. They do have a lot of seating areas around, and they have a good selection of teas & coffee (everything is handcrafted, no regular brew coffee). They have a pool table and this awesome “forest” room that is darker than anything in the shop. They have this excellent tea special that is for two people. Aaron and I shared that, and it is v delicious tea! It is a place to enjoy working late at night.

Hope you have enjoyed this post! If you happen to stumble across any of these coffee shops, I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!
