San Luis Obispo is very near & dear to my heart. I am originally from the Central Coast, and there is so much beauty that gets taken for granted when living around all the great beaches and hiking spots. I wanted to share just some of my favorite spots in SLO; there are a lot more places I enjoy visiting that aren’t listed here. If you happen to drive by the Central Coast, SLO is definitely a great little town to stop by & visit.
- Sally Loo’s Wholesome Cafe
This little gem is one of my favorite spots. I love going to Sally Loo’s early in the morning and having some oooooh so delicious waffles! Their Orange Juice is freshly squeezed and its one of the best I have had. It is right next to the SLO train station, so if you are taking a train somewhere, definitely make a pitstop. Even if you aren’t on a train, I encourage you to stop by. It is a great little spot! I also love their Iced Lattes, and their Açai Bowls are amazzzzzing!
2. Madonna Inn
This place is sooo cute. Pretty neat spot if you are traveling. Every room is unique, so it makes your stay even better! They have some really yummy cake & coffee, so even if you don’t stay, go and grab a slice of their delicious cake. They also serve dinner and other meals. Seriously though, look how cute this dining area is!
3. Boo Boo Records
This shop is my absolute favorite place to buy vinyl’s and CDs (Yes, I still buy those!). I love supporting a local shop that has been around for years. Plus it’s a fun place to spend some time and browse for new music. They have a few small sections where they have new CDs on display with headphones, so you can listen to some tracks before purchasing an album. Since I don’t live on the Central Coast anymore, I can’t be too sure, but I know they use to play shows in the back room which was always so much fun! They also have an area where they have cassettes and CDs by local artists/bands. The employees have excellent recommendations and great taste in music, which is a plus.
4. Linneas Cafe
Okay, this place is so precious. I love this place and its probably one of the first coffee shops I’ve been to! They have these delicious Rosemary Sea Salt Cookies that I always get and have gotten for years. They have a great selection of coffees and teas. They have such a great outdoor area and host small art shows. The art hanging on their walls is constantly changing, so you never know what you’ll see which is v lovely.
5. Kreuzburg
I have been to this place so many times that they have remolded it maybe three times since my first visit haha. This place is also an excellent spot to go for some brunch or just for a cup of coffee. They also sell beer, which makes it a good spot to go late at night. I honestly don’t remember what breakfast items they have, but I know they’re delicious! Their coffee is great, and the ambiance is chill, which is all you want when going to a local spot!
The list seriously can go on & on, but I’ll stop here. SLO is such a fun place to visit and explore. From their Thursday night Farmers Market (literally the best Farmers Market I’ve ever been to) to amazing hiking spots and the beaches around the area, just capture my heart! The whole downtown area of San Luis Obispo is just simply a place where I enjoy spending time. I have many great memories there with friends and family so its a place that I love so much and highly recommend checking out.
